Roshd filmfest jury members approve Iran animations

Jury members of the Roshd International Film Festival have confirmed that Iranian animations meet global standards and there is no difference between Iranian and foreign animations.

The jury members attended a press conference to answer questions about the animations, documentaries and features which contested at the Roshd festival.

Matia Malic, Maryam Kashkouli and Mehdi Khoramian were the juries of the animation section of the festival.

At the beginning of the conference, Malic said “content and quality of the animations which we watched were interesting. Animation is an international language and Iranian filmmakers’ method clearly conveys the content.”

She added the similarity between children’s reaction to animations screened at Felestin Cinema Complex and the reaction of my country’s children shows that animation has an international language.

Kashkouli noted that “watching Iranian animations was promising; because the quality and the story of the animations met high standards. We could not differentiate between Iranian and foreign animations.”

Jury members of the second session, including Mahvash Sheikholeslami, Stephen Malashovic and Elif Ergzen, talked about documentaries.

Malashovic from Serbia was content with the quality of films and said “In my country, we don't use educational films at schools and we make such films for the purpose of entertainment.”

He also noted that “for Iranian documentaries there is just two extremes, they are very good or very bad. There is no average level.”

The Turkish jury member Ergzen said “I watched many good films with high quality. I'm glad for attending this festival.”

The Lebanese jury member Fadi Abi Sameer said “Iranian filmmakers are very talented.”

Launched in 1963, the Roshd International Film Festival is the first and oldest global film event in Iran.

The main objective of the event is to collect the latest in educational material and also to find an innovative way for training and educating children and adolescents in the country.

Films from 28 countries and five continents are competing in the international competition section.

The 48th edition of the festival is to wrap up on November 23, 2018, at Felestin Cinema in the Iranian capital of Tehran.
